ATL UTD 2's mid-week clash against The Miami FC marks the team's first trip to Riccardo Silva Stadium this season and it's second of four consecutive matches on the road. Atlanta earned its first win of the season in its first-ever meeting against Miami, a 4-3 victory on July 29 in Kennesaw. Amadou Macky Diop tallied his first professional brace, Jackson Conway scored off a set piece and 16-year-old Academy player David Mejia scored his first professional goal to give interim head coach Tony Annan his first win. Wednesday night's match will be the second of four scheduled matches between the two sides.
Last time out, Atlanta fell 3-2 to Charleston Battery at Patriot's Point Soccer Complex on Saturday, Aug. 15. Macky Diop scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season while newly-signed Homegrown Efrain Morales scored in his professional debut to become ATL UTD 2's youngest ever goal-scorer. However, the Battery rallied for three second-half goals to take the win.
Miami is still searching for its first win of the season, but the team is coming off a 1-1 draw against Group H leaders Tampa Bay Rowdies last weekend. Sebastian Velasquez finished off a counterattack in the seventh minute to put Miami ahead, but Lucky Mkosana leveled the match in the 59th minute with a header inside the box to split the points and keep Tampa Bay unbeaten on the year.
