MATCH PREVIEW
Fresno FC heads east for its second-to-last road trip of the season as the Foxes take on Swope Park Rangers at Children's Mercy Park on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Fresno FC will look to complete the season sweep after taking a 4-1 win over Swope Park back on June 17th at Chukchansi Park, which would help the club gain some footing in the USL Cup playoff race. Currently, the Foxes are on the outside looking in, sitting five points behind eighth-place San Antonio FC (40 points) with 35 points. Swope Park, meanwhile, has managed to stay in the Western Conference's top eight with a four-match unbeaten streak capped by three straight wins - the previous two of which have come at home. The Rangers lead the USL in passing accuracy at 83%, which has allowed forwards Hadji Barry and Kharlton Belmar to score 12 and nine goals, respectively.
Fresno FC will see the return of center back Ramon Martin Del Campo to the lineup after he served his one-match suspension for a red card picked up against Las Vegas Lights on August 25th. The Foxes are riding a three-match unbeaten streak to Kansas that includes back-to-back 1-1 draws against Las Vegas and Reno. The Foxes will look to leave Kansas with nothing but three points as the playoff race tightens up in the USL Western Conference. With six matches remaining and a jump into the top eight needed, Fresno FC will look to forwards Juan Pablo Caffa and Christian Chaney atop midfielders Danny Barrera and Pedro Ribeiro to fuel an offense that has created a second-best 401 shooting opportunities in the USL's Western Conference.
PENULTIMATE ROAD TRIP
The Foxes trip to Swope Park is their second-to-last of the season, as they'll return to Chukchansi Park for two more games before embarking to Rio Grande Valley for their final away day. The Foxes will look to improve their away record which currently stands at 2 wins, 7 losses and six draws.
LEADING WITH HIS LEFT
Veteran captain Juan Pablo Caffa aims to lead the Fresno FC with his team-best nine goals, eight of which have been scored with his lethal left foot - including three from free kicks. Caffa has also made a team-high 61 key passes to produce four assists, just one behind team leader Danny Barrera. His offensive production will hope to take another USL club to their first USL Cup playoffs as his goal tally is just one shy of the 10 goals he scored last season with Tulsa Roughnecks FC during his first year in the USL.
EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM
Fresno FC remains unbeaten when scoring the first goal, recording 8 wins and 6 draws when it opens the scoring.
