FC Cincinnati, Louisville City FC Game Will Resume Tuesday Night

September 9, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Cincinnati News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saturday night's game between FC Cincinnati and Louisville City FC, which was abandoned in the 38th minute because of lightning and heavy rain, will be resumed on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Kickoff at Louisville Slugger Field will occur at 7 p.m., and the teams will start play in the 38th minute with FCC holding the 1-0 lead it claimed on Saturday night.

Local broadcast details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

Per USL policies, each team may make up to three changes from its game day lineup at the time of the suspension of the game, but any changes that remove a starter from the lineup would count against the team's three available substitutions in the contest.

Louisville City FC has announced that all tickets from Saturday will be honored, however, any ticket already scanned needs to be reprinted by LCFC. To have tickets re-printed and left at Will Call, please contact the Louisville City FC ticket office via email@louisvillecityfc.com or by phone at (502) 384-8799, option 2.

LCFC does not offer refunds, but will honor all tickets that cannot be used on Tuesday with a voucher for a ticket to a future match. Fans are encouraged to contact the Louisville City FC ticket department with questions or concerns.

When Saturday's referees called the teams off the field because of lightning in the area, Corben Bone had scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute off an assist by Emmanuel Ledesma. It was Bone's sixth goal of the season and Ledesma's USL single-season record-tying 12th assist of the season.

However, a nearby lightning strike 15 minutes later forced the teams off the field for a delay, and the rain that had been falling all afternoon became increasingly heavy, making the mixed grass and turf surface unplayable and forcing the abandonment.
