MASL Announces 2018 Divisional Championship Schedules
March 2, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) News Release
KANSAS CITY (March 2, 2017) Following the San Diego Sockers win over the Ontario Fury on Thursday night, the 2018 Ron Newman Cup field is set. The 2018 playoff tournament will kick off Thursday, March 8th when the Pacific, Eastern and Southwest Divisions host Game One of their respective Division Finals.
The eight-team field features both the defending champion Baltimore Blast and their opponent from last year's final, Soles de Sonora. Also returning to the playoffs from last year are the Milwaukee Wave. For the first time in seven years, the Wave will have a new opponent for their first round of postseason play as the Cedar Rapids Rampage earned their first trip to the playoffs this season.
The Tacoma Stars and Syracuse Silver Knights are new additions to the Ron Newman Cup bracket, along with the Southwest Division regular season champion Monterrey Flash.
The full Divisional Championship Schedule is below and can be found online at MASLSoccer.com. The Divisional Championships will be a home-and-home series with each team getting a chance to host a game. The higher seed decides which game in the series they would prefer to host. Should the series be tied after Game Two, there will be a 15-minute Mini-Game immediately following Game Two. This will be a new game, consisting of one 15-minute period to decide the series winner.
Every match in the 2018 Ron Newman Cup Championship Series will be shown LIVE on MASLtv, the streaming home of the MASL.
