Maryland Maniacs News Release
Laurel, MD (January 5, 2009) The Maryland Maniacs are pleased to announce the appointment of attorney and entrepreneur, Lisa El to the position of General Manager for the upcoming 2009 season. She succeeds John Wolfe who resigned from the position in November. "I welcome the opportunity presented by the Maniacs," said El, "and I'm looking forward to helping the Maniacs establish a footprint in arena football and a niche in Southern Maryland."
As a former New York State track and field standout and Ivy League Champion, El is no stranger to the sports world. The Freeport, N.Y. native attended the University of Pennsylvania where she excelled in the long and triple jump and obtained a bachelor's degree in an impressive three years. "Sports have always played a major role in my life. I have a love and appreciation of football that's rooted in my childhood. My brother played and I haven't been able to take my eyes off the game since."
In 2001, El relocated to the Washington, D.C. area and joined the legal department of Black Entertainment Television LLC (BET). She attended the George Washington Law School, and upon graduation joined BET's outside counsel, The Robert's Law Group PLLC. One of El's greatest assets is her ten years of experience as an entrepreneur and real estate investor. Investing in properties from New York to Georgia, California to D.C. and controlling business enterprises in Maryland, El has honed her management skills and obtained a practical understanding of what it takes to build a business from the ground up.
El will be responsible for overseeing all team operations including sales, marketing, community programs, fan development, and game day activities. "We are excited about the prospect of bringing a fun and affordable entertainment option to football fans in Prince George's County and the surrounding D.C. metropolitan area."
