Georgia Force News Release
ATLANTA, GA. â The Georgia Force announced today that Head Coach Marty Lowe would be relieved of his duties for the remainder of the 2004 season. In addition, the Force announced that Assistant Head Coach Bob Kronenberg would serve as the team's Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.
"It is the goal of the entire Georgia Force organization to be committed to winning and give our fans a team they can be proud of," said Force owner Virgil Williams. "We feel there is a lot of talent on this team that currently is not living up to the expectations that the organization and fans expect from our team. With the guidance of our Advisory Board and management, we felt at this time it is in the best interest of the team to move in a different direction with our Head Coach position. We appreciate all that Coach Lowe has done for this team over the last three years and wish him and his family the best in the future."
Force Advisory Board Chairman and current University of Georgia Athletic Director Vince Dooley added, "Over the course of the remaining season, we will be assembling a search committee in order to find our next Head Coach. While certainly our Interim Head Coach Bob Kronenberg will be a candidate, we intend to do a national search to find the best fit for the Georgia Force."
The Force are currently in the midst of a team-record tying five-game losing streak. Over that span, Georgia has been outscored by their opponents 240-133 and have committed a total of 42 penalties and turned the ball over 23 times (6 interceptions, 8 fumbles and 9 turnovers on downs). Last week, the Force fell to the Orlando Predators 30-7 breaking the mark for lowest scoring out-put in team history. Marty Lowe leaves the Force carrying an overall record of 18-20 (6-11 at home and 12-9 on the road).
Currently in his fourth season in the Arena Football League coaching ranks, Bob Kronenberg has the longest tenure with the Force coaching staff serving as the Assistant Head Coach for the last three seasons. Over that time, his primary focus has been coaching the club's offensive and defensive lines. Prior to joining the Force's staff, he served as an Assistant Coach with the Nashville Kats during the 2001 season.
A veteran lineman himself, Kronenberg spent two years as an offensive/defensive lineman with the Kats during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. As a member of the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe from 1995-98, Kronenberg captured a World Bowl title in 1998. His playing experience includes the Las Vegas Posse and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Kronenberg also signed contacts with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.
Kronenberg earned a degree in physical education from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, were he was an All-North Central Conference lineman. He is a native of Menomee Falls, Wisconsin.
