
Martha's Vineyard Sharks Announce New Head Coach

Martha's vineyard, MA- The Martha's Vineyard Sharks are proud to announce the new head coach for the 2012 season. Mike O'Malley, Assistant Baseball Coach at Brown University in Providence, RI, will be at the helm for the Sharks second season.
"I couldn't be happier to have this opportunity to coach the Sharks. After their fantastic season last year, I am excited to be part of a great organization and help them continue on the right path" stated O'Malley.
Mike O'Malley is in his third season as Assistant Baseball Coach at Brown University. O'Malley assists head coach Marek Drabinski with the Bear's hitting, recruiting and also instructs the Bears' infielders. He also serves as the Bears' baseball camps director throughout the year.
In 2011, O'Malley was named General Manager of the Torrington Titans of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League in Torrington, Conn. There he managed and operated all aspects of the wooden bat summer collegiate team.
O'Malley spent 2008-2009 as the Director of Baseball Operations at the University of Rhode Island, managing the Rams' community outreach, fundraising efforts and team logistics. Shortly after the 2008-2009 collegiate season ended, O'Malley signed an Independent League contract with the Worcester Tornadoes in Worcester, Mass., a member of the Can-Am League. In addition to playing for the Tornadoes, O'Malley also spent some time with the American Defenders of New Hampshire in Nashua, N.H., also in the Can-Am League.
O'Malley played collegiately at the University of Rhode Island where he was the team captain in 2008. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from URI in 2008 with a Minor in Business Management. O'Malley is currently working on his Master's in Public Affairs at Brown.
