Martel and Roy receive fines

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, March 13, 2007 - Denis Arsenault, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's consultant to the Commissioner, today imposed fines to head coaches Richard Martel of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and Patrick Roy of the Quebec Remparts following incidents which occurred at the Georges-Vézina Centre last Sunday.

Richard Martel and Patrick Roy both received $2,000 fines for unnecessary, inappropriate and provocative behaviour in the late stages of the third period. These incidents are pointless and will not be tolerated.

The decisions were rendered after consulting the video of the incidents and after consulting all concerned parties.

In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, there will be no further comment.
