Chad Denny Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League announced today that defenceman Chad Denny of the Lewiston MAINEiacs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 11, 2007 after scoring three goals and six assists for nine points in three games.

In three games last week, Denny recorded three goals and six assists while maintaining a +2 differential. Furthermore, he had a hand in 9 of the team's 17 goals to help the MAINEiacs collect three wins. His best showing came last Wednesday as he registered one goal and three assists in a 6-0 victory over the Moncton Wildcats. Friday night, Denny scored two goals and added two assists in a 7-5 victory over the visiting St. John's Fog Devils. On Sunday, thanks to a 4-3 win at home over the PEI Rocket, the MAINEiacs clinched the first overall spot in the standings. In the win, the Lewiston defence allowed only twelve shots on goal.

The 19-year old Eskasoni First Nation, NS native was chosen 49th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2005 NHL Draft.

Bobby Ryan of the Owen Sound Attack was the OHL nominee after scoring three goals and six assists in two games and Ty Wishart of the Prince George Cougars was the WHL nominee after scoring one goal and six assists in three games.
