
Marlins Sweep Sharks in Double Header

Wilmington, North Carolina-The Wilmington Sharks fell twice to the Morehead City Marlins Saturday night at Buck Hardee Field. After dropping game one 3-1, the Sharks then fell 14-2 in game two extending their losing streak to five games. The losses also dropped the Sharks to 7-14 on the season and to 0-8 in the season series with the Marlins.
Jack Harris set the tone for the Marlins in both games. In game one, he hit a solo home run on the first pitch of the second inning to put the Marlins up 1-0. In game two, he reached on a dropped third strike to begin the second against Sharks starter Alex Havlicek who had struck out the side in the first. In game one, with the Sharks trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Tucker Greer hit a two-out RBI single to score Clemente Inclan and put the Sharks on the board. James Parker tried to score from second on the play but was thrown out at home plate. The Marlins added an insurance run on a wild pitch in the seventh to go up 3-1.
In game two, after Harris reached to begin the second, he ultimately came in to score the first of nine runs that inning to put the Marlins up 9-0. The Sharks got on the board in the second on an RBI single by Tilo Skole to cut it to 9-1.
In the top of the third, Jarrett Pico led off with a solo home run to put the Marlins up 10-1. The Marlins added another run that inning to go up 11-1. After the Sharks added another run in the bottom of the inning, the Marlins put the scored three in the fifth to go up 14-2.
After an off day on Sunday, the Sharks will return to Buck Hardee Field Monday night against the Fayetteville SwampDogs. It is Reading Night featuring a Celebration of our Read Around the Bases participants. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM with the gates opening at 6:00PM.
