WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (7-3 second half, 23-14 overall) took their sixth straight game from the Morehead City Marlins (3-10 second half, 13-27 overall), erasing a two-run deficit for a 5-2 victory Sunday night at Buck Hardee Field.

The Marlins got on the board first in the fourth inning when Matt Anderson came around to score on a grounder from Drew Woodall. The Marlins doubled their lead in the fifth frame when Chad Shannon walked and later scored on a single from Sal Annunziata to take a 2-0 lead.

However, the Sharks countered in the bottom of the fifth with four runs. Zach Stephens doubled and then scored from third on a wild pitch. Then, Grayson Atwood unloaded a three-run home run to left field, giving the Sharks the lead for good at 4-2. Wilmington tacked on the game's final run in the sixth inning on back-to-back doubles from Stephens and Alex Freedman to close the scoring at 5-2.

Stephen Vaughan (2-1) earned the win and tossed four innings of relief without allowing a run. Blane Reutter (0-1) suffered the loss in his Marlins debut, allowing four runs in 4 1/3 innings on four hits. Andrew Brockett recorded save number eight on the campaign, pitching a scoreless ninth frame.
