
Mark Watson Joins NE Revolution Until End Of MLS Season

Charleston, SC. Charleston Battery assistant coach Mark Watson will assist the New England Revolution until the end of the MLS season. Watson spent the last week with the Revs' following the departure of New England assistant coach Paul Mariner and was on the bench alongside head coach Steve Nicol on Sunday as the Revolution defeated the Columbus Crew and earned a playoff berth. Watson will remain with New England through the post-season.
Watson has served as an assistant coach with the Battery since 2006. Prior to his coaching role Watson played four seasons with Charleston is one of only six players to have played 100 games for the Club.
A former Captain of the Canadian National Team, Watson earned 78 caps and scored 3 goals for Canada. Watson has also served as an assistant coach for the Canadian National team.
The New England Revolution hosts the Chicago Fire, in Game 1 of the MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinal Series at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. The Eastern Conference Semifinal Series is a two-game, aggregate-goals series. Game 2 will be played at the Fire's Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET; both games will be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel.
