Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Tuesday that veteran defender Mark Cochrane's status has officially been changed from Retired to Active.

"We're very happy to be adding Mark to our Active Roster," said Hamley. "He had some commitments early in the season, but he's fully dedicated to contributing to this team in the second half. His experience is invaluable and he'll add some real depth and leadership to our defensive unit."

Cochrane announced his retirement just before the start of the current NLL season. In 79 career games, Cochrane has totaled 12G-47A-59P; he has also scooped up 348 career loose balls. In four career playoff appearances, the 6'2", 180 lb. defender has registered 8GP-2G-5A-7P-26LB. Cochrane scored the game-winning goal against the Calgary Roughnecks in the West Division Championship last season to send the Sting to their first Champion's Cup appearance in franchise history.

A teacher of special needs children in Ontario, Cochrane originally signed with the Buffalo Bandits as a free agent in 1993. The 40-year old native of Owen Sound, Ontario, was a member of the 1996 Bandits team that captured the NLL (then MILL) Championship. A graduate of Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Cochrane scored the title-winning goal for the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Brampton Excelsiors at the 1998 Mann Cup.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Currently in their third season of existence, the Sting are the defending NLL West Division Champions. For more information, please call (480) 563-7825 or visit ArizonaSting.com.
