
Mariners Split Doubleheader with Princeton

The Pulaski Mariners (27-21) finally returned to action following a three-day span of weather affected games with a doubleheader against the East Division leading Princeton Rays (28-21).
Pulaski let a 2-0 lead slip away in game one and eventually fell in that contest 3-2. Then the Mariners' pitching staff shut down the Rays for a 3-0 win.
Zack Littell (4-4, 5.13 ERA) started game one. He went five-and-one-third innings of three hit ball and surrendered one unearned run. In addition, Littell added six strikeouts.
Estarlyn Morales went three-for-four with a triple and drove in both of Pulaski's runs.
The game ended in the 11th inning on a walk-off single by Carter Burgess which scored Cristian Toribio.
Taylor Byrd (0-1, 3.75 ERA) started on the bump in game two. Byrd lasted four-and-two-thirds innings, and kept the Rays off the board-scattering four hits and a walk.
Arby Fields led off the game with a home run, and the Mariners never looked back. Fields went two-for-four in the game and added another run batted in in the second inning.
Rohn Pierce (3-1, 3.66 ERA) took the ball from Byrd in the fifth inning and finished the game en route to the win.
The two teams contest the final game of the series tomorrow night.
