Pulaski Mariners News Release
Looking for a series sweep, the Pulaski Mariners (13-12) instead fell to the Greeneville Astros (12-12) in a close game, 7-6.
The eighth inning proved decisive for Greeneville as the Astros scored once off Rohn Pierce (2-1, 3.86 ERA) to break the 6-6 tie. Pierce entered in the sixth inning in relief of starter Pat Peterson and lasted two innings-surrendering three runs, one earned, in that span.
Angel Heredia (3-1, 3.29) won the game for the Astros. He held the Mariners scoreless for the final one and one-third innings.
Pulaski's one through five hitters dealt the majority of the damage. Seven of the team's nine hits came from those spots in the lineup. Five different Mariners recorded a RBI.
The Mariners take Tuesday off due to a league-wide off day. They will be back in action on Wednesday against the Johnson City Cardinals.
