Mariners lose big

Pulaski, VA- Friday the 13th turned out to be as haunting as possible for the Mariners as they lost big, 12-3 against the Bluefield Blue Jays.
After a two hour and twenty-five minute rain delay, baseball resumed at Calfee Park. Bluefield had momentum leaning in their favor when the game was paused in the top of the second. The lengthy rain-delay however did not hinder their production even slightly, as they picked up where they left off, scoring three runs in the second and two more in the third on a monster homerun by LF Eric Arce.
Bluefield's offensive production kept on rolling as they finished the game with 12 runs on 13 hits. The Blue Jay's pitching was on point also as they threw a combined eight innings of shutout baseball and gave up only three hits to the M's. Ironically, Pulaski's third hit came five hours after the first two being that they happened in the first inning prior to the rain-delay. Also, the third hit prevented the shutout as Phillips Castillo hit his first homerun of the year in the 9th inning with one out.
Mariners will travel to Danville tomorrow to take on the Braves, marking the start of a seven game road stand.
