
Blasik hits walk-off double for Astros in 10th inning

Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros and Elizabethton Twins game on Friday had a near three-hour delay in the middle of the fourth inning, went into extra innings and finally completed well after midnight on a Brian Blasik walk-off double give the Astros a 3-2 win.
Prior to the rain delay, the Astros held a 1-0 lead. The run came in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs, Jean Batista got on base with a walk and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Then, Ernesto Genoves drove him in on a single.
After three quick outs from Elizabethton in the fourth inning, the rain came and the tarp was put on the field.
Once the stormy weather subsided, the Astros did their scheduled postgame fireworks show as the field was being prepared to resume the game.
In the fifth inning, the Twins first time at the plate following the delay, Jhonatan Arias led off with a walk. Then, a single from Candido Pimentel moved him to third. One batter later, Niko Goodrum drove in the tying run for Elizabethton on another single.
In the bottom of the inning, Jimmy Howick led off with a double for the Astros. Then D'Andre Toney hit a sacrifice bunt and, combined with a throwing error from the Twins, scored Howick from second to put the Astros back up 2-1.
Elizabethton evened the game again at 2-2 in the seventh inning. Jorge Polanco led off with a double and scored shortly thereafter on a base hit by Pimentel.
After nine innings, the game was still even so the Astros and Twins played one more frame. With no damage done by Elizabethton, the Astros took their shot in the bottom of the tenth.
With one out, D'Andre Toney got on base with a single. Then, with two outs, Brian Blasik ripped a line drive double down the left field line that brought the speedy Toney all the way around for the winning run.
Euris Quezada (1-1) got the win for the Astros after giving up no runs and no hits over three innings. He also picked up five strikeouts.
