(Southaven, MS) -- Stephen Margeson scored two goals for the Mississippi RiverKings to finish off the Rocky Mountain Rage in a 5-1 victory at the DeSoto Civic Center on Sunday. The victory was the RiverKings' fourth straight win, equalling their longest winning streak of the season. It was also Kevin Kaminski's 200th career professional coaching victory.

After Rocky Mountain took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Simon Watson at 13:09 of the first period, Mississippi answered with five straight goals.

Three of the goals came in the first period, including a power play goal from Jeff Alcombrack at 14:18, the eventual game-winning goal from Dallas Costanzo at 16:55, and a goal from Jeff Nelson at 18:02.

In the second period, Margeson scored the first of his two goals at 11:58 for a 4-1 lead. Margeson finished the night with his second goal, of the contest, and fifth of the season, at 17:57 for the final score.

Mississippi out shot the Rage by a 37-22 margin, with winning goaltender Kevin Beech (24-10-2) making 21 saves. Losing goalie Scott Reid (13-11-2) made 32 stops in the effort for Rocky Mountain.

The RiverKings scored three of their five goals on the power play (2-for-6), while stopping all ten Rocky Mountain power play attempts.

With the victory, the RiverKings moved into third place in the Northern Conference playoff chase, three points behind Northeast Division-front runner Bossier-Shreveport.

The teams will meet again Tuesday night in the second game of the series, beginning at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center. Tickets are available through the DCC box office or through Ticketmaster. Groups get discounted prices through the RiverKings front office at 662-342-1755.
