Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
South Burlington, VT - The Vermont Frost Heaves will be hosting 3 games in Barre this weekend and after last Friday's Overtime victory over the Millrats, the craziness of March Madness could not come at a better time.
On Friday, March 13, the Frost Heaves will be hosting the Quebec City Kebekwa in Barre at 7:05 p.m. Recent trades with Manchester have bolstered the Kebs line-up and some familiar faces will be on the floor. The Northfield Savings Bank Community All Star will be Tim Barre. Tim is Cub Master for pack 717 of Barre and a volunteer for the Green Mountain United Way. Last year he donated over 1000 hours of his time to these two worthy causes. Tim will be shooting to raise money for his Cub Scout pack.
On Saturday, March 14, the Frost Heaves will be hosting the Montreal PBL team in Barre at 4:05 p.m. This game was originally scheduled to be in Montreal, but has been moved to Barre. The Northfield Savings Bank Community All Star for this game will be Mike Dykstra, a volunteer fireman who was at the right place at the right time. He saved a woman' s life when he pulled her from the New Haven River after her car wound up going off the road earlier this winter. Mike will be playing for the Addison County Food Shelf.
On Sunday, March 15, the Buffalo Stampede invades Barre to close out the weekend. Tip time is 2:05 p.m. The Northfield Savings Bank Community All Star for this game will be Marissa Velez, one of the Team Captains for the State Champion Spaulding Girls Division I Basketball team. Marissa hit the 1000-point mark in last minute of the championship game, capping off her four-year varsity career. Next year she plans to attend Assumption College on a full scholarship. She will be playing for the Central Vermont Humane Society.
March Madness at its finest. We hope to see everyone there to help push the Frost Heaves into the playoffs. All games count in the PBL regular season standings, so come help us fight for a wild card spot!
Tickets for all Frost Heaves games are available at the Flynn Box Office in person, by calling 802-86-FLYNN or online at flynntix.org. Tickets for Barre games only are also available at Allen Lumber in Barre and First in Fitness in Montpelier.
