2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 28-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 12-17-2 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 30-1-1 when leading after two periods, 2-16-0 when trailing after the second, and 8-0-2 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-3 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 4TH IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 4th in OHL scoring with an average of 4.15 goals per game (249 in 60 games). Windsor Spitfires are 1st at 4.76 (283 in 60 games for 4.72), followed by Flint (255 in 60 games for 4.25) and Sarnia (248 in 59 for 4.20).

BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing 170 goals in 60 games for an average of 2.83, trailing the Ottawa 67's (150 against in 60 games for 2.50).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 7th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 22.5. The Troops have scored 50 goals on 222 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.6 percent. The Troops have allowed 34 power-play goals during 254 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 4th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 12.2 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 199 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 136 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

SHORTHANDED GOALS: The Battalion is tied with Mississauga for 3rd with 13 shorthanded goals, including four by Nikita Tarasevich ... The Battalion is five points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 2-1 at Mississauga in its 61st game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 26 goals and 59 assists for 85 points in 59 games and is tied for 4th in the OHL scoring race. He's 3rd in assists (59), 5th in power-play assists (24) and tied 5th in plus-minus (+29).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 29 goals and 48 assists for 77 points in 60 games and is tied for 8th in assists (48) and is 13th in the OHL scoring race.

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 22 goals and 46 assists for 68 points, all career highs, in 60 games. He is 2nd in points (68) and tied for 2nd in goals (22) by rearguards and tied 3rd in assists (46) by defencemen. He is tied for 3rd among all players with 272 shots on goal.

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 28 goals and 33 assists for 61 points in 61 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with teammate Nikita Tarasevich and four others for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 19 assists for 21 points in 60 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+48).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points, all career highs, in 57 games. He is tied with teammate Josh Bloom and four others for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

BRAYDEN HISLOP: Defenceman Hislop has three goals and 15 assists for 18 points in 62 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied for 10th in plus-minus with +27.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 32-9-2 with a 2.45 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and three shutouts. He leads all netminders in wins (32) and average (2.45), is 2nd in save percentage (.915) and tied for third in shutouts (3).
