2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 32-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 12-17-2 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 33-1-1 when leading after two periods, 2-16-0 when trailing after the second, and 9-0-2 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-3 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 5TH IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 5th in OHL scoring with an average of 4.14 goals per game (265 in 64 games). Windsor Spitfires are 1st at 4.72 (307 in 65 games), followed by Sarnia (276 in 64 for 4.31), Flint (281 in 66 games for 4.23), and Ottawa (273 in 65 for 4.20).

BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing 174 goals in 64 games for an average of 2.72, trailing the Ottawa 67's (167 against in 65 games for 2.57).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 9th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 22.3. The Troops have scored 52 goals on 233 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.7 percent. The Troops have allowed 35 power-play goals during 264 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 3rd-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 12.3 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 213 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 139 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

The Battalion is five points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 6-1 at Barrie in its 65th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 26 goals and 63 assists for 89 points in 62 games and is tied for 5th in the OHL scoring race. He's 3rd in assists (63), tied 4th in power-play assists (26) and is 6th in plus-minus (+33).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 31 goals and 50 assists for 81 points, all career highs, in 64 games and is tied for 12th in assists (50).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 22 goals and 48 assists for 70 points, all career highs, in 64 games. He is 3rd in points goals (22) and points (70), and tied for 5th in assists (48) by defencemen. He is 5th among all players with 282 shots on goal and tied for 13th in power-play goals (12).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 28 goals and 37 assists for 65 points in 65 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with teammate Nikita Tarasevich and four others for 2nd in the OHL with four shorthanded goals.

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 19 assists for 21 points in 64 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+48).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points, all career highs, in 61 games. He is tied with teammate Josh Bloom and four others for 2nd in the OHL with four shorthanded goals and is tied for 10th in plus-minus (+29).

BRAYDEN HISLOP: Defenceman Hislop has three goals and 15 assists for 18 points in 66 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied for 10th in plus-minus (+29).

KYLE McDONALD: Right winger McDonald has 33 goals and 17 assists for 50 points in 41 games and is tied for 3rd in the OHL with eight game-winning goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 35-9-2 with a 2.38 goals-against average, .918 save percentage and four shutouts. He leads all netminders in wins (35), average (2.38) and save percentage (.918), and is tied for 2nd in shutouts (4).
