BRADENTON, Fla. - The Marauders battled back from two separate deficits in a rain-shortened 5-3 win over the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night at LECOM Park.

The game was called with two Marauders runners on base and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Marauders (58-33) are now on a five-game winning streak and have clinched their third consecutive series win.

Clearwater (39-50) got back-to-back singles from T.J. Rumfield and Jared Carr to open the second inning. Marauders starter Luis Ortiz (3-3) then threw a wild pickoff throw past first base, enabling Rumfield to score for a 1-0 Threshers lead. Ortiz, however, avoided further trouble by retiring the next three batters.

After two scoreless innings by rehabbing Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez, the Marauders tied the score against Threshers piggyback starter Dylan Castaneda (2-4) in the third, as Francisco Acuna doubled to left field and scored the tying run on a Jackson Glenn single to left.

Bradenton then took its first lead in the fourth, as Jack Herman led off the inning with a solo homer to center field off Castaneda.

The lead was short-lived, as Marauders shortstop Dariel Lopez committed a fielding error to open the fifth, and Baron Radcliff followed with a towering two-run homer to right-center off Ortiz, giving the Threshers a 3-2 advantage.

But the Marauders rallied ahead again in the bottom of the fifth. Acuna, Glenn, and Abrahan Gutierrez drew three straight walks to load the bases against Castaneda. Lopez then struck out swinging, but the third strike bounced to the backstop, allowing Acuna to race home from third for the tying run. Herman stepped to the plate and scorched a double down the left-field line, plating Glenn and Gutierrez to put the Marauders back in front, 5-3.

Bradenton right-hander Sergio Umana allowed a pair of singles in the sixth in relief of Ortiz, but escaped a first-and-third jam with the 5-3 lead still intact by inducing three routine flyouts.

Ortiz finished his evening with eight strikeouts across five innings, his third-highest strikeout total of the season.

Herman's three-RBI night, meanwhile, gives him a total of 29 RBI in 30 games for the Marauders.

At the time the game was called in the bottom of the sixth, the Marauders had gotten a one-out single from Acuna and a Glenn walk against Clearwater righty Cam Wynne.

The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Jared Jones will start for the Marauders against RHP Hsin-Chieh Lin for the Threshers.
