Bradenton Marauders News Release

Fort Myers, Fla.--- The Marauders (25-14, 60-44) and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (16-24, 50-55) met for the third game of a six-game series at Hammond Stadium on a steamy Thursday evening in South Florida. The Marauders pulled off a stunning comeback win after scoring 13 unanswered runs to cruise to a 15-8 win.

Marauders starter Dominic Perachi carried the Marauders through four innings on the mound, surrendering four runs while striking three of the 20 batters he faced on the night.

The Mussels went ahead 3-0 after the first inning, with Danny De Andrade and Rafael Cruz doubling back-to-back to give the home side a solid early lead.

Bradenton counterpunched with a two-spot in the top of the second with an RBI single from Geovanny Planchart and a run-scoring groundout from Mitch Jebb to cut the score to 3-2.

Fort Myers added to their lead in the fourth with a solo blast off the bat of Maddux Houghton before Alec Sayre crushed a grand slam to extend to lead even further to 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Young Bucs pulled back within three runs in the top of the sixth inning when Planchart crushed a three-run bomb, his third long ball of the year, to make it 8-5 with three innings to play.

The Marauders exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth thanks to some timely swings and a total lack of control from the Fort Myers bullpen. Bradenton grabbed five consecutive walks to start the innings, with the fifth of the bunch bringing in a run to pull the good guys within a pair.

Lonnie White Jr. doubled off the wall in center to score two runs, tying the game at 8-8. Three wild pitches and a sacrifice fly pushed in four more runs for the Marauders to go from trailing by three entering the innings to ahead by a score of 12-8.

In the ninth, the Marauders grabbed three more thanks to an RBI double from Rodolfo Nolasco and a two-run shot from Rodolfo Nolasco to make it 15-8 going into the bottom of the ninth.

Elijah Birdsong shut down the Mussels in order in the bottom of the ninth to seal the unbelievable 15-8 comeback win for the Marauders.

Game Four is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, with Wilber Dotel expected to start for Bradenton.
