Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla.--- The Marauders (16-6, 51-36) and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (9-13, 43-45) met for the fourth game of a six-game series at LECOM Park on Circus Night on the corner of 9th and 17th. Bradenton dominated from wire-to-wire and earned a massive 11-3 win guarantee at least a split in the series.
Marauders starter Owen Kellington tossed a gem across four innings. The right-hander struck out five and allowed one walk with no hits surrendered.
Bradenton scored in the home half of the opening frame thanks to a sacrifice fly from Josiah Sightler. The Young Bucs then went on to add four runs in the third thanks to a two-RBI single from Yordany De Los Santos and RBI doubles from Jesus Castillo and Geovanny Planchart to put the good guys up 5-0 a third of the way through the game.
Josiah Sightler crushed a two-run blast to right in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 7-0 advantage headed to the fifth frame. Through 16 games with Bradenton, Sightler is hitting for a .536 average with five home runs, 22 RBI, and a slugging percentage of .911.
The Marauders' power bats heated up in the fifth inning when Enmanuel Terrero, Termarr Johnson, and Rodolfo Nolasco hit back-to-back-to-back jacks to push the lead to a 10-0 mark.
The pitching of Bradenton took center stage in the latter innings. Joshua Loeschorn tossed three perfect frames in the fifth through the seventh, with six strikeouts in the mix.
An RBI double from Jesus Castillo after the seventh inning stretch extended Bradenton's lead to 11-0.
As the game moved to the eighth inning with the Mighty Mussels still hitless, Brandan Bidois and Elijah Birdsong combined to carry the no-hitter into the ninth inning.
After the first two men in the visiting half of the ninth reached on a hit by a pitch and a walk, Rubel Cespedes cracked a liner to right field, scoring a run while ending the no-hit dream.
Fort Myers scored two more runs in the frame and was finally shut down by Carlos Lomeli to seal Bradenton's 11-3 win.
Game five of the series is set for Saturday night at 6:30 for a Pride Celebration at LECOM Park.
