New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH-The Fisher Cats Foundation today announced that Boston Red Sox pitcher Manny Delcarmen has confirmed his attendance at the Granite State Baseball Dinner, slated for Saturday, November 22, at the Manchester National Guard Armory. Mike Bordick, a 14-year Major League veteran, and Mary Pratt, a former pitcher in the World War II-era All American Girls Professional Baseball League depicted in the movie A League of Their Own, will also be special guests at the charitable dinner that benefits the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), the Ted Williams Museum and the Fisher Cats Foundation, a statewide charitable organization that provides scholarships to college-bound New Hampshire and Massachusetts high school seniors.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to add Manny Delcarmen, Mike Bordick and Mary Pratt to the lineup of special guests at the Granite State Baseball Dinner," said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. "Much like former Fisher Cats Jesse Litsch and David Purcey, Manny will give our fans the chance to meet a talented young pitcher who came through Merchantsauto.com Stadium as a Portland Sea Dog on his way to the Major Leagues. Mike grew up in Maine and made a long Major League career out of being a hard-working, sure-handed shortstop. And we are honored to have Mary, a pioneer in women's professional baseball, also joining the head table on November 22."

Delcarmen posted a record of 1-2 with a 3.73 ERA and two saves in 73 relief appearances for the Red Sox in 2008, notching 72 strikeouts in 74.1 innings. The right-hander, a West Roxbury, MA native, was drafted by Boston in the second round of the 2000 draft.

Bordick was an infielder for the Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays between 1990 and 2003. In 2000, Bordick earned a spot on the American League All-Star Team as a shortstop for the Orioles. Two seasons later, he set a Major League record for shortstops by appearing in 110 consecutive games and handling 543 straight chances without committing an error.

Pratt, 89, pitched for the Rockford Peaches and the Kenosha Comets of the AAGPBL between 1943 and 1947. Her top season came in 1944 when she went 21-15 and pitched a no-hitter against the Minneapolis Millerettes.

Tickets to the dinner are $75.00 per person and can be purchased in person at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, by visiting www.nhfishercats.com or by calling the Fisher Cats Ticket Office at (603) 641-2005. Doors to the event will open at 5:00pm with a silent auction from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Dinner will be served at 7:00pm. An autograph session with all honored guests will be held prior to the dinner and is included in the price of the dinner ticket.

WMUR-TV Sports Director Jamie Staton will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, and all dinner attendees will receive a free, limited-edition Johnny Pesky autographed poster.
