Louisville Fire News Release

Louisville Fire wide receiver/defensive back Cesare Manning (6'1, 200, Indianapolis) was forced into the Offensive Specialist (OS) role against Albany last weekend after OS Rob Mager was hospitalized with an infection in his arm. Manning responded by simply catching 12 passes for 152 yards and seven touchdowns and earned the arenafootball2 league's Offensive Player of the Week honor for Week 13. The seven touchdowns are a team record, an af2 league high for 2005 and tie him for most receiving touchdowns in a game in af2 history. The 42 points Manning totaled also broke the Fire team record for points in a game.

Manning, playing his second game as OS this season, scored the Fire's first two touchdowns of the game and all four Fire touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Manning's final touchdown reception came with just 11 seconds to play, and put the Fire (7-5) up by 10 to seal the 73-63 victory over Albany. In Manning's first game as the OS he caught 10 passes for 193 and five touchdowns in week 2 at Rio Grande Valley.

This is the third weekly award for the Fire this season, Tony Stallings was named US Army Ironman of the Week for Week 2, and Demetrius Forney was also named US Army Ironman of the Week for Week 9.

Bossier-Shreveport wide receiver/defensive back Reggie Perkins and Green Bay defensive specialist David Crocker have been named U.S. Army Ironman and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 13.

Following a league wide bye for the July 4th holiday, the Fire will continue their push toward The 2005 ArenaCup playoffs on July 9th in Freedom Hall against the San Diego Riptide at 7:30 P.M. Tickets can be purchased by calling (502) 368-0009 or visiting Ticketmaster.com.
