Miami Manatees News Release
Miami â Playing the second of three consecutive games, the Miami Manatees dropped an overtime shoot-out to the Jacksonville Barracudas 5-4.
Entering the third period with the score tied at three apiece, the Manatees struck quickly with :24 seconds on the clock when Kevin Swider broke free on a 3-0 situation with Tom Perry and Trevor Socholotuk. Swider didn't have a shot on Randy Hevey, so Swider played the puck back to Perry who scored on a wide-open net.
But Jacksonville tied up the game with 5:00 minutes left when Klage Kaebel scored his third point of the night, getting the puck past Manatees goaltender Sean Weaver on the power-play.
In the shoot-out session, the first three shooters from each team were held scoreless. Weaver and Hevey both made stellar saves for he first twelve shooters. Jacksonville's seventh shooter, Lyle Steenbergen scored the game-winning goal, deking out Weaver and back-handed the puck top-shelf for the win. The shoot-out session was the second consecutive night in a row that Jacksonville won in the shoot-out.
In a back and forth game, both teams ended each period tied up.
