Miami Manatees News Release

Miami – Jamie Miller's third period hat-trick helped propel the visiting Jacksonville Barracudas to their first win in Miami as they defeated the Manatees by a score of 5-3.

Zdnek Vanc started the scoring for the Manatees in the first period, slamming home a pass from behind the net past Randy Hevey at 7:40. Assisting on the power-play goal, Ron Baker has scored five points in three games for the Manatees.

Trevor Socholotuk scored the second Miami power-play goal in the first period, when his wrist-shot from the point found its way through traffic for the goal. But Jacksonville came right back 39 seconds later when John McCabe scored on Mark Gowan to end the first period.

Derek Toninato got the only goal in the second period, drawing the teams to a 2-2 tie to end the second period.

After Miller scored two goals to start off the scoring in the third, Eric Perricone's goal at 14:06 in the third period drew the Manatees to within one goal, but just 20 seconds later, Miller scored his third goal that sealed the 5-3 win for the Barracudas in front of 1012 fans at the Miami Arena. Gowan made 31 saves on 26 shots in the loss, while Hevey earned his fourth win of the season, stopping 36 of 29 shots.

The loss was the first time in regulation this season that the Manatees lost at home, and only the second time the Barracudas defeated the Manatees this season. The Manatees head on the road next week for two game in Alabama before heading to Jacksonville on Sunday.
