Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that the team has acquired defenseman John Orsen in a trade with the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for transition player Ned Crotty, pending league approval.
Orsen, a five-year NLL veteran, has played in 50 career regular-season games. Earlier today, he was selected by Philadelphia with the 10th overall pick in the dispersal draft of Boston players. The 6'3", 203-pound defender was then traded to Colorado.
"John is one of the league's truly elite defenders," said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett. "He's a tremendous addition to our roster."
Orsen was named to the 2010 All-NLL Second Team. Earlier this year, he represented Team USA at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. A Cold Spring Harbor, NY native, Orsen garnered All-America honors at Hofstra University following his senior season.
"Ned is a class act, and we're sorry to see him go," said Govett. "We expect him to develop into a quality player in the NLL. Playing for Philadelphia puts Ned much closer to home."
