Colorado Mammoth News Release

LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Two weeks ago, the Colorado Mammoth began its longest road trip of the season with a nine-goal victory over the Vancouver Stealth. On Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre, the same building where the road trip began, it was the Stealth who had the Mammoth's number as the home team defeated Colorado, 15-7.

Mammoth defenseman Cam Holding's first goal of the season late in the first quarter tied the game at three. Vancouver then went on a 9-1 run to put the game out of reach.

"It's hard to take anything positive offensively from that game," said Mammoth coach Pat Coyle. "The effort was lacking."

Colorado forward John Grant, Jr.'s assist on an Eli McLaughlin power-play goal 2:36 into the fourth quarter was his 1,400th career point. Teammate Adam Jones' tally with less than four minutes remaining in regulation extended his goal-scoring-streak to 53 games.

Goaltender Alex Buque, who last got the nod in the season-opener, started Saturday's game for the Mammoth. He was replaced by Dillon Ward in the third quarter after making 32 saves on 41 shots on goal.

"The plan was to get Buque in and get him some solid minutes," explained Coyle. "Dillon was under the weather tonight."

Colorado's Ilija Gajic scored his first goal of the season (against his former team). Fellow defenseman Creighton Reid had his third of the year. Callum Crawford and Grant each scored once. The Mammoth was without captain Dan Coates, who began serving a two-game suspension on Saturday.

Colorado has lost two straight after starting the season 4-0. The Mammoth hosts the defending-champion Saskatchewan Rush (3-1) on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center this Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7:30pm MT. Tickets are on sale now.
