Mammoth Returns to Canada Looking to Right the Ship

Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - For the third time in as many weeks, the Colorado Mammoth (1-5) is on the road in Canada. Saturday's visit to take on the Calgary Roughnecks (2-2) marks the Mammoth's second trip to Scotiabank Saddledome in 15 days. Colorado is winless (0-3) this season on the road, while Calgary is unbeaten (2-0) at home thus far this year.

"We're past a tough part in our schedule, four games in (nine) days," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. The stretch included three games in Canada and more than 5,400 miles traveled.

Colorado doesn't play more than one game per weekend for the remainder of the season. Now the team is looking to get back on track.

"We've been giving up runs quite a bit this year; we obviously have to stop those a lot quicker," said Mammoth captain John Grant Jr. "Offensively, we've been going in some pretty long droughts."

Both of which plagued the Mammoth in Calgary the last time the teams met. The Roughnecks' five-goal run in the second quarter gave them some breathing room. They extended their lead in the third quarter as the defense held Colorado scoreless.

Yet, Calgary head coach Curt Malawsky was quick to praise his Saturday opponent.

"By no means are they a 1-5 team...they've got so much power up front, they've added Athan [Iannucci], they've added the big guy in the back in [Mike] McNamara. They're a lot different team than we saw a few weeks ago."

On Friday, the Mammoth moved transition player Jackson Decker and defenseman Chet Koneczny to the Active Roster from the team's Practice Player List.

The game will air live at 7pm MT on The Lacrosse Network on YouTube and will be shown on television on tape-delay on Altitude Sports on Mon., Jan. 27 at 1:00pm MT.
