DENVER - Colorado Mammoth general manager Steve Govett became a naturalized United States citizen today, taking the oath of citizenship during ceremonies in Denver.
Govett addressed the other citizens sworn in today, telling them that their roads and journeys may have been different, but that their destination has been the same.
"This is a moving and inspirational day for my family and for me," Govett said. "Anyone who works toward this goal understands the emotion and privilege in taking this step."
A native of Burnaby, British Columbia, Govett will maintain dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada. He lives in Highlands Ranch, Colo., and is married with two children. His wife, Eileen, and children are all U.S. citizens.
