
Mammoth captain named player of the week

DENVER - Colorado Mammoth captain Gary Gait was named the National Lacrosse League's offensive player of the week on Wednesday for his four-goal, three-assist performance in the Mammoth's 13-12 victory over Anaheim on Friday night.
Gait scored three goals in the fourth quarter against Anaheim, including one that tied the score at 12 with 2:19 remaining, then assisted on Scott Stapleford's game-winner in the final minute.
It was the second seven-point game this season for Gait, the NLL's all-time leading scorer with 1,156 points. He is tied for eighth in league scoring and leads the Mammoth with 46 points on 20 goals and 26 assists.
The Mammoth (6-3, first place West Division) hosts rival Calgary on Sunday at noon at Pepsi Center.
