DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth played two inter-squad scrimmages on the opening weekend of training camp, with the burgundy team winning both at Parker Fieldhouse in impressive fashion. The burgundy squad followed up a 16-8 victory on Saturday night with a 10-5 win on Sunday morning. Several offensive players swapped teams for Sunday's game.

"I was very impressed by the level and quality of play throughout the weekend," said Mammoth Head Coach Bob Hamley. "While our veterans showed their grit, some of the new additions, including our draft picks, shined."

Second-year forward Connor Martin led all scorers with five goals (4 Saturday, 1 Sunday), while third-year transition player Ilija Gajic netted four (1 Saturday, 3 Sunday). Rookie forward Jamie Lincoln, the 14th-overall selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, led all newcomers with four tallies (3 Saturday, 1 Sunday).

Forward Derek Hopcroft and transition player Jed Prossner each scored three goals in two games, while forwards John Grant Jr., Jordan McBride, Mat MacLeod, Sean Pollock, Ryan Boyle and Joey Cupido each had two goals. Twenty-four year-old Creighton Reid, acquired by the Mammoth in a July trade with the Toronto Rock, led all defensemen with two scores. Forward Gavin Prout, transition players Nick Carlson and Jovan Miller, and defenseman Dan Coates added one goal apiece.

The team heads to Vancouver, British Columbia on Friday for the second weekend of training camp, and will play its first preseason game against the Calgary Roughnecks at Langley Events Centre (Langley, British Columbia) on Sunday morning.

The Colorado Mammoth opens the 2012 season against the Minnesota Swarm on "Brian Langtry Night" on Saturday, January 14 at 7pm MST on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Season seats are on sale now and start at just $72. Reserve your seats today at ColoradoMammoth.com or by calling 303.405.1101.
