Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Sometimes a jersey is more than just fabric sewn together. There's little question that the threads worn by the Colorado Mammoth on the team's annual 'Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night presented by HealthONE's Sarah Cannon Cancer Network have much greater significance than any other they wear each season. Such is the case again on April 17, 2015.
On Wednesday, the team announced the return of the 'I'm Playing For' campaign in which fans win the right to put their name or the name of a loved one on the actual uniform worn by their favorite player on 'Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night. Jerseys are placed in an online auction on eBay, with bidding on each jersey open for 24 hours. Net proceeds from the auctions will be donated to non-profit, cancer-related charities.
All auctions include a complimentary pair of lower-level tickets to the game. Each winning bidder will receive the jersey from the player in a special on-field presentation immediately following the game.
Donations that exceed the initial bid price are tax-deductible. Thus, if a jersey sells for $750 and the initial bid price was $300, the difference ($450) is tax-deductible. This only applies to the winning bidder of each auction.
The chart below includes a list of jerseys available for bid, and what type of cancer each player aims to 'Lacrosse Out'. Also shown is the date that the jersey will debut in auction.
The following players' jerseys are currently up for bid.
