Denver, COâ Walt Christianson has resigned as assistant coach of the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth to take the head coaching position with the Vancouver Ravens.
Christianson helped lead the Mammoth to a league-best 13-3 record last season. Christianson joined the Mammoth in November after coaching the Western Lacrosse Association's Victoria (British Columbia) Shamrocks to a Mann Cup championship last summer, and after two seasons as an assistant coach with the NLL's Calgary Roughnecks.
"All of us with the Colorado Mammoth family are deeply grateful to Walt for his support and assistance over the past season," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.
Christianson was named the WLA coach of the year in 1990, 2001 and 2002. He has three Mann Cup championships to his credit, including two as a player.
Christianson teaches high school social studies, history and physical education and lives in Victoria with his wife, Julia, and two sons.
