Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that it has acquired forward Mat MacLeod and defenseman Creighton Reid, as well the ninth and 14th overall selections in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, in a trade with the Toronto Rock. In exchange, Toronto receives forward Dan Carey, the 28th pick in this year's entry draft, as well as the rights to the Rochester Knighthawks' first-round selection in the 2013 Entry Draft that Colorado had previously owned. The trade is pending league approval.
MacLeod, a 23-year-old right-hander, has recorded 39 points and 78 loose balls in 39 career games in four NLL seasons. Reid, a 24-year-old Ontario native, has scooped up 112 loose balls in 26 games in two seasons. He appeared in every regular- and post-season game in 2011 for the Rock en route to Toronto winning the Champion's Cup.
"Mat and Creighton provide us with much-needed youth, and the picks we received will be invaluable," said Mammoth Head Coach Bob Hamley. "It's tough to say goodbye to Dan, but his personal situation has changed in recent weeks and it requires him to stay close to his home in Peterborough [Ontario]."
The Mammoth now owns five of the first 17 selections (third, ninth, 14th, 15th, 17th) in this year's draft.
"This is a deep draft with some very talented players," proclaimed Hamley. "We have a tremendous opportunity to bolster our roster in September."
