Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - On Thursday, the Colorado Mammoth finalized and announced its 20-man roster for the 2015 season. Fourteen players return from last year, highlighted by forwards John Grant Jr. (captain) and Adam Jones, defensemen and assistant captains John Gallant and Dan Coates, and goaltender Dillon Ward.
Colorado's 2014 first-round draft picks (forward Eli McLaughlin and defenseman Robert Hope) and second-rounder Alex Buque (goalie) also made the team, as did restricted free agent forward Alex Turner.
"After three weeks of training camp, I have great confidence in the players we've selected to the roster," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "The coaches did a tremendous job in promoting competition from day one."
Cam Holding, one of five Mammoth players from this summer's world-champion Canadian men's national team, is back. A season ago, the defenseman boasted career-highs in goals, assists, points, loose balls and forced turnovers. Forward Drew Westervelt returns after a 30-goal campaign, his fifth in the last six seasons.
The remaining returners include forwards Sean Pollock, Athan Iannucci and Jackson Decker, and defensemen Dan Ball, Joey Cupido, Creighton Reid and Bobby Snider. Ian Hawksbee rejoins the team after a one-year hiatus.
Defenseman Tyler Codron was signed by Colorado on Wednesday. Colton Porter and Mike Woods inked Practice Player List contracts. Eric Law begins the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List.
The Mammoth concludes training camp this Sat., Dec. 20. It opens the 2015 season at Minnesota on Jan. 3.
