
Mallards' White Named Rookie Of The Week

MOLINE, Ill. (March 29, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Mallards center Justin White has been named IHL Rookie of the Week.
White, 24, assisted on all five goals scored by the Mallards over two games last weekend and registered a plus/minus rating of +1. The Traverse City, Michigan, native yesterday set a team single game season high by picking up four assists in a 4-2 win over the Dayton Gems. The 6' 0", 184-pound White also set up the lone Quad City goal in a 3-1 loss to the Muskegon Lumberjacks last Saturday night.
White has scored 16 goals and added 29 assists for 45 points in 59 games since joining the Mallards in November. He leads Mallards rookies in point scoring and ranks fourth in points among first year players league wide. White has collected at least one assist in each of his last four games and picked up a total of seven assists during that stretch.
White played two games with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones early this season before signing with the Mallards. Last year he completed a four-year collegiate career at Notre Dame by scoring nine goals and notching 15 points in 38 games. White, who helped the Fighting Irish to the 2008 NCAA title game as a junior, scored 15 goals and produced 44 points in 119 career games for the golden domers.
At Notre Dame White played for Jeff Jackson, one of the leading coaches in college hockey, who began his coaching career as an assistant to Mallards Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone at Lake Superior State.
Before heading to South Bend, White played three seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League for the Topeka Scarecrows, St. Louis Heartland Eagles and Sioux Falls Stampede.
The Mallards return to action Friday night in Port Huron against the Icehawks. The Mallards are next in action on home ice on Thursday night April 8 against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:05 P.M.
