IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Twenty-Four

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington forward Craig Macdonald has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Quad City center Justin White has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Bloomington goaltender Andrew Martin has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 28th , 2010.

Macdonald had a stellar week, recording six goals and one assist in three games played. He had two multi-point nights, including his fourth four-point night of the season. Macdonald notched in two hat tricks in two of the three games, recording his second and third hat trick of the season. His first came Wednesday, where he had a four point night (3 goals, 1 assist) in the PrairieThunder's 5-2 win over Dayton. His second came Sunday, where one of his three tallies was the game-winning goal, sealing the 4-3 win over Port Huron. The 27-year-old Milton, Ontario native is currently third among IHL scoring leaders with 81 points (41g, 40a). His 81 points also leads the PrairieThunder in scoring.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Dayton forward A.J. MacLean, Flint defenseman Tyler Howells, Fort Wayne left wing Matt Syroczynski, Muskegon right wing Michel Beausoleil, Port Huron right wing Mike Kinnie and Quad City center Justin White.

White wrapped up the week dishing out five assists in two games played by the Mallards. He had four assists in Sunday's 4-2 win over Dayton, recording his second four point night of the season. The four helpers were a single game season high for the Mallards. White is also currently riding a four-game assist streak, dishing out seven assists during those four games. The 24-year-old Traverse City, Michigan native is currently fourth among IHL rookies in scoring with 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists). White's 45 points also makes him the Mallard's most productive rookie this season.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Nick Elligsen, Dayton forward Corey Couturier, Flint forward Matt Moffat, Fort Wayne right wing Sean O'Connor, Muskegon left wing Matt Robertson and Port Huron defenseman Mike Gershon.

Martin finished the week with a 2-1-0-0 record in three games played, making his first start after missing the last 19 games after being sidelined with an injury since early February. He completed the week with eight goals against in the three games, giving him a 2.69 goals against average. He made a total of 77 saves, including making 31 against the Icehawks Sunday, posting a .906 save percentage for the week. The 27-year-old Camberley, England native is currently ninth among IHL goaltenders in goals against average with a 3.07 average in 30 games played.

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Dayton's Derek MacIntyre, Flint's Sergei Zvyagin, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Jerad Kaufmann.
