MOLINE, Ill. (August 9, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced that Jim Kersten has joined the Mallards as the team's Vice President of Corporate Sales and that Jenna Bieri has been named the Mallards' Community Relations Director.

This marks Kersten's return to the Mallards. The Woodstock, Illinois, native first served in the Flock's front office during the 2005-06 season. In his new role Kersten will be responsible for developing and maintaining Mallards corporate partnerships.

"Jim adds a dimension to our business we've not had in quite some time," said Mallards President Chris Presson. "He's well known and respected within the community and brings the experience needed for us to make positive strides. We welcome him to the Mallards family and are looking forward to his contributions."

Kersten, who is now approaching his sixteenth season in professional hockey business operations, adds his considerable know-how to what is already a vastly experienced Mallards front office staff. Kersten, Presson and Mallards CEO Bill Davidson collectively have better than 50 years of hockey administrative experience.

Kersten was most recently on the staff of the American Hockey League's Omaha Knights and has also worked in the National Hockey League for the Anaheim Ducks. In addition, the Elmhurst college graduate has also spent time with teams in Nashville, Huntsville, Orlando, Bakersfield and San Diego. While with the San Diego Gulls Kersten was named the West Coast Hockey League's Marketing Director of the Year for both 2000-01 and 2001-02 and was part of two Gulls championship-winning teams.

Bieri will coordinate Mallards community outreach programs. The Davenport native graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University in May with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Bieri attended Syracuse on an athletic scholarship and ran long distance for both the Orange's track and field and cross country teams. Bieri made both the Dean's List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll each of her eight semesters at S.U. and was also a member of both the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

"One area in which we plan to focus is how we can better serve the local communities," said Presson. "Adding Jenna's position allows us to do just that through a variety of avenues and community outreach programs. Our fans will see a noticeable difference in our community presence."

The Mallards will open their first CHL season on home ice on Saturday night, October 16, at 7:05 p.m. against the Odessa Jackalopes. Mallards 2010-11 ticket packages are now available to meet any budget or schedule. For more information on ticket packages for the upcoming season, contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364. Single game seats will go on sale in the fall on a date to be announced.
