QUACK TRACKS

Return Trip

Eight players on the Mallards' current roster skated for last season's club- forwards Obi Aduba, Brandon Marino, Jared Brown, Eric Giosa and Jason Kostadine and defensemen Shane Lovdahl, Darren McMillan and Bobby Preece. Aduba, Marino and Lovdahl are back for a third full season with the Flock. In addition, right wing Justin Chwedoruk has returned to the Quad Cities after previously playing for the Mallards 2006-07.

Breaking the Ice The Mallards dropped a pair of preseason games on home ice at the Ice Breaker last weekend. The Flock was blanked 6-0 by Evansville on Saturday. Mallards coach and general manager David Bell rested eight veterans on Saturday. The Mallards endured a much tighter defeat- a 5-4 shootout loss to Missouri- yesterday.

Preseason Producers Rookie right wing Mickey Lang led the way offensively for the Mallards in the preseason. Lang scored two goals and added an assist yesterday. He was also the only Mallard to score in the shootout against Missouri.

Between the Pipes David McKee, who is expected to be the Mallards' number one goaltender this season, did not play in preseason. Brad Fogal, who is slated to serve as McKee's backup, made 23 saves yesterday against the Mavericks. Nick Niedert, who took the loss in goal last Saturday against Evansville, was waived earlier today.

Power Outage

The Mallards went 0-for-6 on the power play last weekend and also allowed too shorthanded goals in last Saturday's loss to Evansville.

Senior Citizen

Defenseman Darren McMillan is the only Mallard over age 30. The 31-year old seventh-year pro is about to start the second season of his second tour with the Flock. McMillan returned to the Quad Cities last year after playing a dozen games for the Mallards early in the 2009-10 campaign. Over the course of his career, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, native has played 336 games and recorded 23 goals and 134 points.

Totally Turner Time The Mallards take on foes from within the Turner Conference in each of their first six games and 12 of their first 14.

On the Road Again

The Mallards will play six of seven games on the road after opening at home Saturday.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

Saturday night's curtain raiser will be Bell's first game as a head coach. The Wiarton, Ontario, native spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach, sandwiching stints with the Owen Sound Attack and Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League around a two-year tour with the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons.

Opening night will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with a Fan Fest outside the i wireless Center featuring Kiss tribute band Strutter, a welcome from Mallards coach and general manager David Bell, kids' activities, games, food and beverages and more. The Mallards' opener against Rapid City will follow at 7:05 p.m. Admission to Fan Fest is free with the purchase of a ticket to the opener. All fans attending the opener will receive free Mallards quick stick schedules.

Single Game Tickets

Single game tickets for all of the Mallards' regular season contests- including the opener- are also now on available. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets will be available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level.

Group Tickets Groups of at least ten can receive savings off the walk-up price and a host of other great group benefits.
