Mallards Weekly Update

February 16, 2010 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Quad City Mallards News Release

Ducks Dip

The Mallards lost three games in three nights last weekend after going unbeaten in regulation (4-0-0-1) in their prior five games.

Rough Road

The Mallards lost back-to-back road games last weekend and have won just one of their last nine away games, going 1-7-0-1 during that stretch.

Pat-Trick

Patrick Levesque recorded the Mallards' first hat trick of the season- a natural hat trick, in fact- in last Wednesday's 6-3 win over Dayton. Levesque has now posted six multiple goal games this season.

Flying Rubber

The Mallards yesterday hurled 40 shots at the Dayton net- the second time this season Quad City has put 40 or more shots on goal in a game. One night earlier the Mallards had surrendered a league single period season high 26 shots in the second period of a loss to Fort Wayne. Kyle Jones matched a league single period season high by making 24 saves in the second period last Saturday.

Blanked

Last Saturday night also marked just the second time this season the Mallards have been shut out.

Streaks Stopped

Chris Lipsett (17-24-41) and Mike Zbriger (14-20-34) both had five game point scoring streaks snapped last Friday night against Bloomington.

Isn't That Special (Teams)? The Mallards have failed to convert their last 13 power plays and have given up two goals on four opponent power plays in each of their last two games. The Mallards rank last in the league in penalty killing (77.8 percent).

(Not) Workin' for the Weekend

This weekend the Mallards enjoy a Saturday night off for just the second (and final) time this season.

Ins and Outs

The Mallards activated forward Terry Harrison (groin) from injured reserve last Saturday and also waived defenseman A.J. Bozoian last Saturday.... Defensemen Shaun Fisher (back) and Matt Burke (ankle) are on injured reserve.
