Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have re-signed forward/defenseman Kyle Follmer, the Mallards announced today.

Follmer, 29, scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points in 41 games after joining the Mallards last November. The 6' 1", 195-pound St. Paul, Minnesota, native started last season with the Allen Americans, for whom he played three games.

"Kyle is the type of player I can play at both forward and defense," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "He is reliable and he's a team guy who could be very important to us this season. "

As a rookie in 2014-15, Follmer scored ten goals and added eight assists for 18 points in 45 games with the Americans. He skated in four playoff games as Allen claimed the 2015 ECHL Kelly Cup title.

Follmer, who did not play during the 2013-14 campaign due to a hip injury, spent four seasons at Northern Michigan before turning professional. He scored 15 goals, notched 52 assists and totaled 67 points in 152 career collegiate games. He enjoyed his most productive season as a Wildcat when he scored four times, produced a team-leading 22 assists and recorded 26 points as a junior in 2012-13.

Follmer arrived at NMU after three junior seasons in the United States Hockey League with first the Sioux City Musketeers and then the Lincoln Stars.

The Mallards will open their twentieth season in the Quad Cities on Friday, October 14 at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets at the iWireless Center. Single game tickets for all regular season home games- including the opener- are now available.
