Quad City Mallards News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (February 27, 2011)- Tyler Shelast broke a 1-1 tie at 6:49 of the third period and David Brown made 30 saves as the Quad City Mallards came from behind to defeat the host Evansville IceMen 2-1 Sunday night.

The Mallards entered the third period trailing 1-0, but the deficit disappeared when Adam Maccarone's drive from the left point caromed home off teammate Eric Giosa just 46 seconds into the third. Shelast snapped the deadlock by swooping into the left wing circle and driving the puck past Evansville goaltender Matt Lundin. Brown made 13 saves in the third as the Mallards held off the IceMen the rest of the way.

The Mallards were forced to battle from behind after Evansville's Jeff Nelson rifled home the opening goal from the bottom the right wing circle at 7:33 of the first period.

The Mallards on Sunday placed right wing Zac Pearson (upper body injury) on 10-day injured reserve retroactive to February 21 and moved defenseman Tyler Kindle (upper body injury) to 10-day I.R. retroactive to yesterday.
