Bucks Muzzle Sundogs in Overtime

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Arizona Sundogs 6-5 in overtime Sunday night at Laredo Energy Arena. With the win the Bucks move to within two points of the Sundogs for the final playoff spot in the Berry Conference as they improve to 19-28-7 (45 points).

Neil Trimm scored two goals and had an assist to help lead the Bucks to a 2-1 record in their three-game weekend.

Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel scored the game-winner 2:35 into overtime to pick up his seventh goal of the season.

The Bucks improve to 15-1-1 when scoring four or more goals in a game.

The first period had plenty of action with the Bucks taking a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Arizona (19-26-8, 47 points) jumped out in front just 50 seconds into the game when Mark Kolanos took advantage of a turnover and scored from the bottom of the right circle to net his ninth of the season.

Laredo would tie the game at 1-1 at the 2:24 mark of the first when Brian Matte took a feed from Jeff Hazelwood in the slot and jammed home his sixth of the season.

The Sundogs would go back up 2-1 when Patrick Schafer picked up a loose puck right in front of the Bucks net and scored to net his eighth of the season.

The Bucks would then score two goals in 18 seconds to take a 3-2 lead into the locker room.

Reid Edmondson tied the game at 2-2 when he scored from the right circle on a two-on-one break to net his eighth of the season.

The Bucks would take a 3-2 lead just 18 seconds later when Neil Trimm scored a power-play goal after banging in a rebound from right in front of the net.

Laredo outshot Arizona 16-13 in the first period.

Trimm would put the Bucks up 4-2 when he banged in a rebound from the left side of the crease to score his second of the game and 20th of the season.

Arizona would score two goals in just 22 seconds to tie the game at 4-4 on two broken plays.

Kyle Hood picked up a loose puck in the slot and hammered in a rebound at the 13:22 mark of the second to make it 4-3 Laredo.

Just 22 seconds later Jamie VanderVeeken scored on the power-play from the top of the left circle to score his sixth of the season.

The Bucks had the go-ahead goal by Hans Benson waived off with 2:15 left in the second when the officials ruled that the puck was batted in off Benson's hand when replays showed otherwise.

Arizona outshot the Bucks 12-6 in the second period.

The Sundogs would go up 5-4 at the 9:21 mark of the third when Karl Sellan deflected John Wessbecker's shot from the point into the net. The goal was Sellan's seventh of the season.

The Bucks would tie the game at 5-5 on the power-play with 7:50 left in the third period when Keegan Dansereau redirected Jarred Mohr's shot from the point. The goal was Dansereau's second in as many games with the Bucks.

The Sundogs outshot the Bucks 9-7 in the third and held a 36-34 shot advantage in the game.

Torrie Jung stopped 31 of 36 shots he faced for the Bucks as he won his second straight game in net.

Baseball legend Tommy John was at the game to root the Bucks to victory. John has 288 wins in 26 major league seasons.
