Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (March 4, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, will team with Genesis Health System to hold their 15th Annual Jersey Auction to benefit the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Saturday night, March 20, following the Mallards' game against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at the i wireless Center.

The Mallards will wear their special edition black third jerseys during the March 20 game and those sweaters will go up for bid in the live auction immediately after that contest.

"The Quad City Mallards organization and the team's fans have been very generous over the years in their support of the Genesis Foundation. Funds raised from this year's jersey auction will help Genesis provide quality, compassionate end-of-life care to all patients of the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, regardless of their ability to pay for the care," said Genesis Health Services Foundation Director Missy Gowey. "It's a great cause and we look forward to another great auction."

Over the last 14 years Mallards jerseys auctions have raised nearly $600,000 to benefit local charities.

"We are very excited to be working with Genesis on our 15th annual jersey auction and feel privileged to have the chance to help benefit the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House," said Mallards Executive Vice President and General Manager Shawn Hackman. "Mallards fans have a well-earned reputation for their strong community spirit so we look forward to another successful jersey auction this year."
