MOLINE, Ill. (November 21, 2010) - Mike McLean scored two third period power play goals and added an assist and Adam Maccarone also scored twice as the host Quad City Mallards defeated the Dayton Gems 6-4 Sunday to extend the Flock's winning streak to a season best four games.

Quad City was already on top 4-3 when McLean blasted what proved to be the game winner in under the cross bar just 18 seconds into the third. After Dayton's Tom Boudreau reduced the Quad City advantage to 5-4 with a drive from the high slot just over two minutes later, McLean buried his second from the side of the net to put the game beyond the Gems' reach at 9:15 of the third.

Earlier on the Mallards twice had to battle from behind before taking the lead for good. The Gems first jumped in front just 22 seconds into the game when Tim Hartung jammed the puck home in a goalmouth scramble.

The Mallards would bounce back later in the first as Maccarone first tied the game and then put Quad City on top 2-1. Maccarone struck first with a drive from the high slot at 5:10. At 17:51 Maccarone's blue line blast broke the 1-1 deadlock. That first Mallard lead lasted just over a minute until Corey Couturier evened the score at two apiece from the left wing circle with just 53 seconds left in the first.

Dayton's Chris Lipsett snapped the 2-2 tie with a tip-in at 9:54 of the second period, but the Mallards would respond by scoring twice in just under two second period minutes. Eric Giosa's breakaway goal knotted the score at three at 13:33. Tyler Shelast scored the first of the Mallards' three power play goals from the side of the net to give Quad City a lead it would not relinquish at the 15:28 mark.

The Mallards will visit the Tulsa Oilers Tuesday and the Fort Wayne Komets Thursday before returning home to meet the Bloomington PrairieThunder Friday at 7:05 p.m. All fans attending Friday's game will receive free Mallards 2010-11 team photos courtesy of Fox 18.
