Quad City Mallards News Release

The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed left wing Kevin Jarman, that Mallards goaltender David Brown has been called up by the American Hockey League's Texas Stars to serve as emergency back-up netminder during the Stars' game tonight in Rockford against the IceHogs and that defenseman Adam Maccarone has been granted a leave of absence by the CHL.

Jarman, 25, split last season between the Mississippi RiverKings and Arizona Sundogs.

The Aurora, Ontario, native scored four goals and totaled 13 points in 36 games with the RiverKings and scored five times and notched six points in 18 games after joining Arizona.

The 6' 0", 197-pound Jarman missed the entire 2008-09 season due to injury.

In 2007-08 Jarman broke into pro hockey by scoring 19 goals and recording 35 points in 45 games with the CHL's now defunct Youngstown Steelhounds.

That campaign also saw Jarman skate in eight games with the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch.

Before turning pro Jarman notched 21 goals and 61 points in 131 games over four seasons at the University of Massachusetts.

As a senior in 2006-07, Jarman produced nine goals and 23 points in 35 games while helping the Minutemen to the first NCAA tournament bid in school history.

Jarman was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round of the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the one hundred third overall choice.

Brown, 25, has gone 4-6-0 while posting a 3.08 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in 11 games this season.

The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native, is expected to rejoin the Mallards after suiting up for Texas tonight in Rockford.

Brown returns to the AHL after earlier in his career spending parts of two seasons in the league with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

As a rookie in 2007-08, he went 9-7-1 in 19 AHL games while turning

in a 2.34 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

The following year Brown went 1-2-0 in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Brown was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the two hundred twenty-eighth overall pick.

Last season Brown went 10-19-3 with a 3.94 goals against average and a .888 save percentage in 33 games with the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators.

Before turning pro Brown enjoyed a standout four year collegiate career at Notre Dame. During his time in South Bend he set a host of school goaltending records and backstopped the Irish to the first two NCAA tournament berths in the program's history.

As a senior in 2006-07 he was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist while helping the Golden Domers to their first ever Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular season and playoff titles. He also earned First Team All-American (West) and CCHA Player of the Year honors during his final season with the Irish.

Maccarone, 23, suffered a concussion last Friday in the Mallards' 5-4 shootout win over the Rush in Rapid City.

The Whitby, Ontario, native has scored twice and totaled five points in a dozen games with the Flock this season.

Maccarone split last season- his rookie year- between the International Hockey League's Port Huron Icehawks and Dayton Gems. The 6' 1", 210-pound blue liner scored four times and totaled 11 points in 55 games with the Icehawks and picked up five assists in 19 games with the Gems.
