September 20, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (September 20, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today introduced a revamped set of team logos and also announced that new Mallards merchandise featuring the updated logos as well as single game tickets for the Mallards' 2011-12 season- including the Flock's October 22 opener against Rapid City- will go on sale next Monday, September 26, at 10:22 a.m.

Fans stopping by the i wireless Center box office to purchase their seats for the 2011-12 campaign will also have the first opportunity to check out the Flock's new line of merchandise at the Mallards Pro Shop located off the i wireless Center lobby. In addition, Mallards coach and general manager David Bell will be on hand when ticket sales commence to meet fans who have made the trip to the i wireless Center to get their seats and Mallards gear.

"The countdown to our October 22 home opener is certainly going to move into high gear next Monday, so we thought it was fitting that we should kick off sales of both individual game tickets and of our new merchandise at 10:22 a.m.," said Mallards vice president of sales Brad Hoffman. "We are very excited about the approach of opening night and we know that excitement is shared by Mallards fans. That excitement will only increase next Monday when our fans have their first chance to get hold of not only single game seats but also the brand new inventory in our pro shop- and perhaps greet coach Bell while they're there!"

The Mallards' new logo scheme puts an updated spin on the club's already strong imagery. While the team's primary logo will remain the familiar mallard soaring through a circle on which "Quad City Mallards" is inscribed, the color palette for that logo- and all of the Mallards' marks- has been altered, with the elimination of "neon" colors and with a greater emphasis placed on darker Mallard green, distinctive flash orange, black, pewter and white elements.

The Mallard head remains the team's secondary logo in a slightly altered, stronger version that no longer includes a triangular background.

The Mallards have introduced a new tertiary logo modeled on the club's perennially popular mascot, Mo. The logo features Mo's familiar face at the center of the ring sporting the team's name. The new "Mo-centric" logo will no doubt prove especially popular with younger fans and perhaps with a segment of fans who remember a previous duck with attitude.

"In examining the colors and marks for the club, we looked at a lot of options, including other team colors, the strength of the design elements and the Mallards' history," said Jon Pritchett, CEO of CLUB 9 SPORTS, the Mallards' ownership group. "We think the work done several years ago by Matt Kauzlarich was outstanding but it lacked a strong and distinguishable color emphasis. After consulting with Matt and other graphic designers we've worked with over the years, the consensus was to simplify the color palette and focus on the essential, strong colors. We're very pleased with the result and hope our fans concur."

In addition to the focus on green, orange and black and the introduction of a Mo mark, the Mallards have introduced another tertiary mark to be used in merchandise and as a special addition to the team's game sweaters - a stylized duck foot.

Visiting the i wireless Center next Monday, will, no doubt, be made an even more enticing prospect for Mallards fans by Bell's presence. The Flock's first-year boss moved to the Quad Cities earlier this summer and is currently in the midst of preparations for the opening of the club's training camp next month.

"It's been a very exciting time for me since I got to the Quad Cities," said Bell. "Getting ready for the season obviously takes a lot of time and energy but it has been great to meet people throughout the area when I do get away from the rink, so I'm looking forward to getting to know even more of our fans when they come out to get their tickets on Monday."

Seats for opening night and each of the Mallards' other 32 regular season home games will be available not only at the i wireless Center box office but also at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. After next Monday, the box office will be open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets will be available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level.

The Flock's 2011-12 schedule features 33 home games, including 25 weekend dates. 2011-12 season tickets and partial season ticket packages are still on sale- season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com for more season ticket information.
